Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
This movie was delicious. It's definitely a must-see for any FF7 fan.
First of all, the CGI is all extremely beautiful. It's right on par with any of those new Pixar films, and beats out the CGI in any Final Fantasy game up to thise point. It's smooth and just flat-out gorgeous. The environments are lush and full of detail, but still manages tp retain the feel of the original Final Fantasy VII game. The visual effects are simply fantastic, there really isn't much more to say.
Plot-wise, Advent Children follows the original closely while tying up some loose ends that were left over. The movie has closure, but still leaves enough room in the plot for the upcoming games, like Dirge of Cerberus. I don't want to spoil the plot for anyone of you who hasn't seen it, but I have to say it was very action-packed and exciting. Though it was fast-paced, it gave you enough information so you would understand what is going on throughout the movie. Character development pretty much depends on the original game though. Being a direct sequel, the plot will definitely make more sense if you've played all the way through FF7 previously. For those of you that haven't, among the special features is a "Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII" that takes you on a whirlwind tour of the original game and shows you all the major plot points that were made.
